“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination…and life to everything!” – Plato
Hello there, my name is Shakti and I am a Baritone with a background in acting, singing and dance, presently training to sing Opera professionally- and I’m based in Mumbai, India.
I have received a full-tuition scholarship offer to study with accomplished faculty and to perform roles in a few Opera programs and festivals to be conducted in Europe this Summer.
Participating in these programs will :
+ help me improve my vocal technique,
+ give me the opportunity to work with accomplished international faculty and
+ gain experience singing with an orchestra and collaborate with international artists,
all if which are important experiences in my development as a world class vocal artist.
Due to personal financial challenges, I am seeking support to help raise airfare, visa and accommodation costs. Any amount you can contribute can go a long way – so I thank you for taking the time for considering my cause and supporting me today!
ABOUT MY JOURNEY
I have been a student of the stage since my early school years and have continued to train to improve at my craft in any possible way. (More at www.shaktiofficial.com/bio/)
Over the last ten years I have been working as a full time artist as an actor, singer, dancer – also working with schools across India training students in the performance arts, passing on my training from mentors and resources all over the world. (Detailed CV at www.shaktiofficial.com/cv/)
Given that our vocal/operatic training resources are so limited in a country like India , summer courses abroad are a crucial learning experience- an opportunity to train with professionals in the business and to learn language and pieces in the setting where they were originally written and are frequently performed. As an aspiring Opera singer, this will be a great opportunity for me to train with international experts and find my footing as a performing artist on an international stage.
Apart from performing on some of the biggest stages around the world, some of my achievements include being shortlisted as one of the finalists for the Young Musician of the Year competition, organized by the Olga & Jules Craen Foundation. I have also had the opportunity to sing in the Royal Opera Gala held at the Royal Opera House Mumbai – India’s only standing Opera House. Last summer, with the help of scholarships, I was able to perform with orchestra in Berlin and Greece.
If you know any other patrons of the theater and supporter of the arts, I urge you to help me raise this small amount that will take me closer to achieving my dreams. I thank you in advance for your time and support!
